Joomla 2.5

The first beta for next Joomla is out, and the new version will be released as stable on January 10th 2012. The new version has lots of improvements in framework and is mainly targeted for developers. But still there are a few new improvements for the end user as well.

One of the coolest features is that you have the ability to choose a picture for your article in a blog article. You can choose to upload a image for the introtext and fulltext (like K2 extension). This is very handy if you have blog like a magazine or a newpaper. The drawback is of course you still need to downscale the image before uploading - how silly.

My opinion is that the Joomla administrator user interface is way to complex for the ordinary user. Too many options and settings. Our clients are complaining about this issue, and has caused that the clients want a easier CMS. Joomla is a great CMS, but it really needs a refresh in Joomla administrator. Please give us a new UI for  next version of Joomla

Plesk upgrade 10.4 issue

After upgrading from Plesk 10.3 to 10.4 for Linux (Debian 6), the update went smoothly. No error during upgradering, but there was a issue with file permissions for some of our domains on server. It seems that some Joomla sites didn't work properly due to wrong filepermission.

The issue caused the Joomla sites to either give me a error code 500 Internal Error, or error message "No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting...".

The fix was to change ownership on files and folders for spesific domain.
